１９９８年３月の WINDS CAFE 16 に出演してくださったドイツのアーティス
ト、ヨハネス・シスターマンス氏が、３年ぶりに日本にやってきました。WINDS
CAFE 史上最高の集客を誇った３年前のパフォーマンスから、彼に何がおこったの
か？ 今回は展覧会とパフォーマンスの２本立てになります。今年の春、京都で
過ごした体験の中で彼が発見した日本の何かを彼流に再構築したもののようです
が、本番間近になって内容やタイトルが変更されたり、ゲストが増えたりと、予断
を許さない展開になっています。正直なところ、私にも幸子にも何が起きるかまっ
たくわかりません。

Coming to Japan, looking for the more traditional and japan old lifestyle
focused in stonegarden, zen-garden with teahouses, visiting a huge amount
of traditional gardens in Kyoto with teahouses, being invited
accidentially to a short tea ceremony in Ryoan-ji temple of only 10
minutes, walking through japanese every day life and ordinary streets the
last four month in various cities, I am passing almost every 100metre
another beverage vending machine...
My favorite drink becomes hot tea, served by the b.v.m. beverage vending
machine. After a few days of drinking hot tea, sometimes other hot
coffees, teas, it becomes so obvious to me that this has now become a kind
of a 'modern tea ceremony' : Getting thursty, opening the wallat, putting
in the money, waiting 3 seconds, listening to the crashing down of the tea
can, lifting the flap, getting the quiet hot tea can out of the vending
machine, sound-opening of the tea can . . .drinking. Enjoying, resting or
walking along the street or waiting at a bus stop or . . .wabi, sabi,
suki, employees during a break, drinking alone, in a corner of their
bussines building, smoking, relaxing, moments of solitude, breathing,
recognition, space for thinking, tinthing, no thing . . .
tea ceremony: "a highly structured method for preparing tea in the company
of guests. (. . .) In it's totality it also involves the preparation and
service of food and the study and realization of architecture, gardening,
ceramics, calligraphy, history, and religion. It is the culmination of a
union of artistic creativity, sensivity to nature, religious thought, and
social interchange." (Kondasha Encyclopedia of Japan, p. 360, Tokyo 1983).
I started to record in traditional teahouses the ambiance inside and
natural sounds outside as they are resonating inside and did recordings,
photos, videos of these entire modern sound/visual situation, the social
surroundings, the participated materials like tea can, b.v.m., waste paper
baskets for cans.
All of these is material to work with the electric tea ceremony e t c

Johannes S. Sistermanns (ヨハネス・シスターマンス)
１９５５年、ドイツ、ケルン生まれ。ケルン音楽大学で マウリチオ・カーゲルの
もとで作曲／Music Theaterを学ぶ。領域を現代音楽に限らず、ラジオ音楽劇、
Sound Installation など分野横断的活動をおこなう。作品には多くの放送局から
の委嘱作品があり、世界各国の主要なフェスティバルで取りあげられている。
KARL-SCZUKA賞、Zeitgleich" 賞なども受賞。

１９７２年大阪生まれ。高校時代、サイケデリックミュージックに影響を受け、自
身でもバンドを結成。同時に現代音楽を知り、ミュージックコンクレート等の作品
を作り始める。１９９０年大阪芸術大学音楽学科工学コース入学。電子音楽、実験
音楽などを志村哲氏に、コンピュータ音楽を上原和夫氏に師事する。１９９７年８
月INA-GRMにて作品製作および発表を行う。また神戸を中心に活動する社会的アー
ティストNPO「ACTE KOBE」に参加。フランス、スイス、アジア諸国のアーティスト
とのコラボレーションを積極的に行っている。
